You may choose a water repellent treatment to be applied to the pots. Pots are submerged fully in a protective solution that covers all exposed areas. This helps preserve the exterior finish and also helps protect against the risk of frost. Your local climate will be a big factor in determining if this risk is relevant to you. Anduze planters were traditionally planted with citrus and brought into the orangerie over winter. These pots must be brought inside over winter if temperatures drop below freezing.
